	Failure and corrosion cost less to prevent than to correct. That is why Modern Materials Research Division offers a full range of metallurgical testing and inspection services. The economic effects of corrosion results in $70 billion in damage a year. This occurs as a result of equipment loss, plant shutdown, reduced efficiency and loss of product. Failures can result from product design errors, improper material selection, material defects from fabrication or heat treatment, corrosion, or non-design forces acting on a component. Failure analysis isolates causes to help ensure that costly replacement, injuries, or down-time don’t recur.
